Jun Kim

Jun Kim — Guitarist, Composer, Educator

Jazz guitarist Jun Kim earned his Master’s degree in Jazz Guitar from the University of North Texas and returned to Korea to debut in 2010 with the fusion jazz band Syndicate. In 2011, he began his career as a solo leader with the release of Jun Kim Trio [Unconstrained].

In 2012, he was selected by EBS as one of the New Faces of Korean Jazz, appearing on broadcast and live performances. From 2013, for approximately three years, he was an active member of Kim Oki’s Dongyang Youth and SJQ, led by saxophonist Sungjun Kim.

Jun has released several full-length albums as a bandleader, including Jun Kim Group (2012), Jun Kim Sensibilism (2014), Cosmic Aesthetics (2018), and Myself (2019). He has also released duo albums with fellow musicians such as Han-earl Lee, Jungjae Kim, Junho Cha, and Hanbin Lee, and is a core member of the collective improvisation group Discovery of blindspot.

Currently serving as an University lecturer at Dankook University, Jun formed the Jun Kim Sensibilism Trio in the summer of 2022 with bassist Eungseok Lee and drummer Gyuwon Cho, releasing their album Inner Landscape in 2023.

Devoted to advancing music education in Korea, he runs a YouTube channel titled Jun Kim Music, where he shares educational content. With a deep interest in groove-based music, he recently founded lo-fi jazz band the RicoTown, currently preparing its debut release.

Jun Kim’s musical journey continues to evolve across both the educational field and the creative jazz scene.
